While the construction of the Children`s
Village is underway it is time to give a description about where the new home
will be located.
The Dhading District lies right west of
Kathmandu Valley and has a population of approx. 400.000 inhabitants. The District Head Quarter Dhading Besi is a
town right in the district southern center and has a population of around 10.000,
the surrounding community households included. The town has several schools, a
hospital, several small guest houses and small shops in abundance where various
goods and items can be purchased.
Dhading Besi can be reached by driving along the road (Prithvi Highway)
which connects Kathmandu and Pokhara . One drives 67 km/41 miles from Kathmandu
to the Trishuli River-Bridge and the remaining 18 km/11 miles from Trishuli River
to Dhading Besi on a blacktopped and well maintained country road. The
travelling time from Kathmandu is around 2 a half to 3 hours. For road
connection details see http://www.maplandia.com/nepal/central/bagmati/dhading/
The CFO-construction site is on a hill
north-east of Dhading Besi (area of Apchaur,
marked as red in the map). The land site can be reached by a 35 minutes walk
from Dhading Besi or by jeep on the earth road, which is supposed to be turned
into a gravel road next winter. Dhading
Besi is located at 600m/1.968 ft while the
Children`s Village area is at an altitude of around 780m/2.500 ft and has a
beautiful view over the Dhading Besi Valley. We hope to give our children a
good future at the new location.
